Following his engagements at the Global Sustainable Island Summit 2025, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew reflects on key meetings with Island Innovation and the University of St. Martin, emphasizing the role of people, education, and collaboration in advancing sustainability.
This is a follow-up to our earlier article on the Global Sustainable Island Summit 2025.
On the sidelines of the Global Sustainable Island Summit 2025, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew shared a personal reflection on two significant meetings that took place during the event.
“I was pleased to meet with James Ellsmoor, CEO of Island Innovation, where we discussed the tremendous potential of our geothermal energy project, not just for St. Kitts and Nevis, but for the wider Caribbean region,” the Prime Minister shared.
They both agreed that strong political will, when paired with authentic collaboration, can unlock long-term, sustainable change for island communities.
In a separate follow-up meeting, Prime Minister Drew reconnected with Dr. Antonio Carmona Báez, President of the University of St. Martin. The two revisited previous discussions held on St. Maarten, and explored opportunities for deeper collaboration between USM and CFBC, particularly in the areas of training, academic research, and cultural exchange.
“These conversations remind me,” the Prime Minister noted, “that sustainability is not only about the environment and economy it is also about people, education, and the bonds we build across borders.”
