CSA President Dr R. Arrindell Donates Books to USM Library

USM received a valuable collection of Caribbean-focused books from CSA President Dr. Rhoda Arrindell, featuring titles from Rutgers University Press and other academic publishers. The donation strengthens USM’s commitment to regional scholarship and cultural pride.
Pond Island, The University of St. Martin proudly received a generous donation of books this morning from Dr. Rhoda Arrindell, President of the Caribbean Studies Association (CSA). The donation, consisting of Caribbean-centered titles from Rutgers University Press, The University of the West Indies Press, and other scholarly sources, will further enrich the growing collection at the USM Library.
Dr. Arrindell, a professor at Howard University and long-time advocate for Caribbean scholarship and cultural preservation, personally delivered the publications, emphasizing the importance of accessible academic material that speaks directly to the region’s identity, history, and current challenges. The collection features works by leading Caribbean thinkers and authors and spans topics such as migration, colonial legacy, language, education, and social justice.
Dr. Carmona Báez expressed heartfelt thanks on behalf of the university community. “This thoughtful contribution will benefit not only our students and faculty fostering critical thinking and cultural pride through education.” he said.
This thoughtful contribution highlights the vital role that community support plays in strengthening USM’s academic resources.
