USM welcomes acclaimed author Shaka Senghor for a transformative campus discussion. Drawing from his life experience, Senghor will explore themes of redemption, growth, and overcoming life’s hidden barriers with free copies of his latest book for attendees.
The University of St. Martin is honored to welcome Shaka Senghor American best-selling author, college lecturer, motivational speaker, and criminal justice reform advocate for a powerful and inspiring presentation on campus.
After spending nearly two decades incarcerated, much of it in solitary confinement, Senghor transformed his life through education, reflection, and writing. Since his release, he has become a leading voice on resilience, personal growth, rehabilitation, and second chances. His work has reached national and global audiences, including appearances with Oprah Winfrey and on The Joe Rogan Experience.
During his visit to USM, Senghor will share insights from his journey and discuss themes from his latest book, How to Be Free: A Proven Guide to Escaping Life’s Hidden Prisons. The book offers practical strategies for overcoming internal barriers and building a life rooted in purpose and freedom.
