October 21, 2026

Networking, collaboration, and making the most of college took centre stage as MP Dimar Labega and Khalil Raven joined CFY students for an interactive pep talk at USM.
University of St. Martin (USM) Caribbean Foundation Year (CFY) students welcomed Member of Parliament Dimar Labega for an interactive pep talk on Wednesday, October 28, focused on networking, collaboration, and making the most of their college experience. Khalil Raven accompanied MP Labega in support and also engaged with students during the discussion.

No stranger to CFY, MP Labega shared experiences from his own college journey and encouraged students to take their studies seriously. He reflected on how the tools and resources available to students have changed since his college years, urging them to use today’s opportunities to develop their ideas and pursue their goals.

Networking was a central theme of his message. MP Labega encouraged students to build meaningful relationships, exchange ideas, and recognise the value of working with one another. He also highlighted opportunities to explore marketing ideas and use their connections and resources purposefully.

The session provided space for questions and open dialogue. Students shared their perspectives and raised concerns about behaviour they have observed from law enforcement officials in public. MP Labega also discussed legislative work he is pursuing, offering insight into his responsibilities as a parliamentarian. Raven contributed to the exchange, supporting the conversation and engaging with students.

The visit formed part of USM’s CFY pep talk sessions, which connect students with community members and alumni who share experiences and encouragement as they prepare for further education and their future careers.

USM thanks MP Dimar Labega for sharing his journey and insights, and Khalil Raven for his support and participation.
