USM Business students receive their BTEC certificate

“The Business Division of USM now offers an Associate of Arts in two concentrations: Business Management and Accounting and Finance. Being fully accredited through BTEC the students can now advance their studies up to Level 5.
PHILIPSBURG – After graduating in June with an Associate of Arts in Business Management from the University of St. Martin (USM), 11 students in Business Management were awarded their BTEC level 4 certificates. Business Management students have completed their requirements for the Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) accredited Associate of Arts degree.

The students received their certificates at an informal ceremony last Friday from USM President D. Carmona Baez and USM Dean of Academics Dr. Carter. "This is yet another great example of what the new, fully-accredited Business programme at USM is all about. In the present BTEC accredited programme the focus is on truly preparing the students for a career in Business and/or advance theirs studies to another level,” said Head of USM’s Business and Hospitality Division Mr. Jan van Beek.

“The Business Division of USM now offers an Associate of Arts in two concentrations: Business Management and Accounting and Finance. Being fully accredited through BTEC the students can now advance their studies up to Level 5. Their Associate Degree from USM and BTEC diplomas are recognized throughout the World.”

Ms. Karen Hana, Assistant Head of Hospitality and Business Division who was also present said: “I am very proud to see what those students have achieved and wish them lots of success in their future endeavors. Some of them will leave the Island and have attained places at well-known Universities as FAMU in Florida, United States and some will go to The Netherlands, I hope that they will return to St. Maarten after having obtained their master’s degrees.”
