As the University of St. Martin (USM) gears up to launch new programs in August 2024, the collaboration with COSTAATT embodies a shared vision for the future of education — one that transcends borders, embraces diversity, and empowers students with a global perspective.
In a recent visit to Sint Maarten, President of College of Science Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT), Dr. Keith Nurse, was welcomed by the President of the University of St. Martin (USM), Dr. Antonio Carmona Baez, and Dr. Gale T C Rigobert, Dean of Academics. The meeting symbolizes the initiation of a partnership aimed at unlocking new academic opportunities for both institutions.

The collaboration is fueled by a shared commitment to academic excellence and a desire to explore synergies that leverage each institution's unique strengths. USM and COSTAATT have both distinguished themselves in diverse fields and are set to forge pathways that transcend geographical boundaries.”We share much in common and can leverage our respective strengths to expand academic opportunities for our faculty, staff and students,” expressed Dr. Gale T C Rigobert, Dean of Academics of the University of St. Martin (USM). The sentiment echoes the essence of this collaboration — a collective effort to enhance the educational landscape for the benefit of all involved.

COSTAATT has an enviable capacity in Cybersecurity and IT-related subject offerings, Mass Communications, and Journalism. It brings a wealth of experience to the table. Meanwhile, USM's BTEC-accredited Hospitality and Business programs stand as a testament to its commitment to fostering practical skills relevant to the hospitality and business sectors in particular. According to the President, Dr. Antonio Carmona Baez, "The envisaged collaboration seeks to maximize the synergistic potential of these diverse strengths, creating a dynamic academic environment." Dr. Rigobert, in sharing her optimism about this new engagement said, “We look forward to exploring how COSTAAT and USM students and faculty can benefit from our combined programs and engage in academic exchanges in areas such as Creative Arts”. She continued, "The prospect of knowledge exchange in burgeoning fields like Creative Arts signifies a commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are equipped to embrace the emerging opportunities in the orange economy."

As the University of St. Martin (USM) gears up to launch new programs in August 2024, the collaboration with COSTAATT embodies a shared vision for the future of education — one that transcends borders, embraces diversity, and empowers students with a global perspective. This transformative partnership promises to open doors to academic opportunities previously unexplored by USM, setting the stage for a new era of learning and growth on the island.
