Pond Island — The University of St. Martin (USM) is proud to announce the continuation of its Adult Literacy Program (ALP), designed to provide essential reading and writing skills to individuals who face challenges in these areas. The program cycle, spanning 12 to 18 weeks, is scheduled to commence on October 16, 2023, and will run through January 19, 2024.

Besides promoting academic excellence, USM remains at the forefront of social change and progress by offering a wide range of programs serving the community at all levels. Adults who have struggled with reading and writing, or simply never had the chance to read or write, now have an opportunity to transform their lives through this program. The USM Adult Literacy Program offers customized courses that are carefully put together to meet the needs of adult learners. USM campus provides an environment where adults can learn to read, write, and master basic computer skills with confidence and skill.

ALP Coordinator Corinne Lejuez-van Putten said, "We believe that education is a journey that lasts a lifetime, and our Adult Literacy Program fits perfectly with this idea. Not only does our program focus on improving reading and writing skills, but it also gives people the tools they need to take advantage of new opportunities, improve their chances of getting a job, and fully participate in society." Lejuez- van Putten also coordinates the University’s English as a Second Language program (ESL).

If you know someone who could use this life-changing program, please tell them to contact the USM Admissions Team, or someone can contact USM on their behalf. The team will give all the advice and help needed to start the application process. Interested persons can call +1 721 542 5171, WhatsApp +1 721 523 4768, or email admission@usm.sx to get in touch with the USM Admissions.

USM is also calling on individuals and/or companies to support the Adult Literacy Program by becoming sponsors.
