USM Shows Solidarity on World Suicide Prevention Day
September 11, 2025
On September 10, the University of St. Martin joined the global observance of World Suicide Prevention Day. Students, staff, and faculty wore yellow ribbons across campus, standing in solidarity to raise awareness, support one another, and remind the community that every life matters.
Throughout the day, the USM community wore yellow ribbons as a visible sign of solidarity and a reminder that compassionate conversations can save lives.
“Creating a culture where it’s safe to speak up is everyone’s responsibility,” said Dr. Antonio Carmona Báez, President of USM. “By wearing yellow, we reaffirm that no one at USM has to struggle alone and that reaching out is a powerful first step.”
As part of its ongoing commitment to student well-being, USM will continue to promote mental health awareness, peer support, and pathways to care throughout the academic year. Students, staff, and faculty also have access to the services of USM Counselor Carole Joseph, who provides confidential guidance and support.
