USM to Host Info Session on Ph.D. Scholarship Opportunities

The University of St. Martin invites faculty and the public to an information session on new Ph.D. research funding from the Dutch Research Council (NWO). Learn how to apply for a four-year scholarship supporting research in priority areas for St. Martin.
POND ISLAND, The University of St. Martin is pleased to announce an upcoming Information Session on new research funding opportunities from the Dutch Research Council (NWO), aimed at supporting individuals in pursuing a Ph.D. degree either at USM or at academic institutions within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The session, which is open to all faculty and interested members of the public, will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM lecture hall 200 on campus.
USM President Dr. Carmona encourages all eligible and interested persons to apply for this unique opportunity to explore academic and professional development pathways through NWO’s available scholarships.
The selected candidates will be expected to carry out doctoral research over a four-year period. In alignment with its strategic focus areas, USM gives priority to research topics in the fields of policy, governance, public health, climate change and the environment, and the socio-economic and cultural development of St. Martin and the surrounding islands.
This initiative reflects USM’s ongoing commitment to building local research capacity, promoting regional scholarship, and encouraging faculty and community members to expand their academic careers at the doctoral level.
