The Student Government Association (SGA) recently hosted a successful Unity Evening, bringing positive energy and connection to campus as students gathered to celebrate community, culture, and student well-being.

The evening created a relaxed and welcoming environment where students had the opportunity to mingle, build new connections, and strengthen the sense of unity that defines the USM community. The event reflected the university’s continued commitment to supporting students both academically and personally.

A major highlight of the evening was a mental wellness check-in led by USM Counselor Dr. Carole Joseph. During her session, she shared valuable tips on the importance of rest and explained how the body recovers during sleep. Students also learned about the different stages of sleep and why each stage plays a critical role in physical recovery, mental clarity, and overall well-being. The session encouraged students to be more mindful of their sleep habits and prioritize rest as part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Another exciting highlight of the evening was organized by the Student Government Association (SGA), which hosted a friendly competition designed to challenge students’ creativity and critical thinking. The activity brought fun energy to the event and encouraged student participation, teamwork, and engagement.

Events such as Unity Evening continue to demonstrate USM’s dedication to creating a supportive campus environment where students feel connected, valued, and empowered to succeed.
